IMPORTANT NEWS: Get Your Gifts In Time!

Thinking about buying a holiday gift for your favorite bassist? We want to help! We're known for super-fast order handling and shipment, and do our best to ensure that you'll get your gift in time. Check out our handy guide for ensuring holiday gifts arrive in time!

For years, we've hosted an FAQ for Bob's crafty two-piece solution to replace the rubber endpin cap on a Kay or Engelhardt 1/2" endpin. Although we also stock economy rubber endpin caps, some folks need something a lot more durable for the long haul. So we've been regularly asked for years to stock the parts necessary to put this solution into practice, and now we have finally done it - here's Bob's solution, served to you on a silver platter!

In the package, you will get:
  1. a 1/2" (13mm) Vinyl Tip Cover
  2. a 5/8" (16mm) Rubber Foot
  3. Instructions
Putting it together is quite simple; first, slip the slim vinyl 1/2" tip on the pin until it seats firmly. Then force the 5/8" rubber tip over it, as shown in the photo.

That's it! Simple and effective. Bob's been using this combo on his bass for over a decade, and it's still holding up great.

Tips for your tip:
  • If you have a contemporary Engelhardt, the endpin may have a crossbar that prevents you from losing the pin inside the bass, as shown in the photo at right. Consider using pliers to remove that pin (if it's stuck, you can cut or grind it off) so you can put the pointy end inside the bass and the flat end outside. Since there will be no point jabbing at the inside of the rubber tip, it will last a lot longer.
  • Alternatively, some metal washers or a metal disk can be placed inside the tip so the sharp point won't pierce the rubber tip.
