Bob Gollihur's Double Bass Links Page and Double Bass Luthier Directory Project
This links page began in 1996 as a list of double bass resources pulled from my personal bookmarks, to share them with other players. The page changes and grows on almost a daily basis due to new discoveries and submissions. There are a ton of "Electric Bass Links" pages out there, so I've narrowed my entries to those that appeal to the Double Bass side of the world. Please jot me a note at bob@gollihur.com if you find broken links, have a comment, and I will appreciate it if you will tell me of any Double Bass-oriented site omission. If it's your own page, a reciprocal link would be appreciated; I'll be delighted to add links to personal pages where the upright predominates under the Players section. Please note that we are in the midst of moving the all the links to a database system that I've paid to have written, that will make it much easier to maintain (since I code it by hand now). Thanks and enjoy!

THANKS! to Double Bassist Magazine for their interview and photo of yours truly, along with some fine articles on Double Bass and the Internet, and the later article on musicians' injuries and sidebar outlining my experiences. Thanks also to Bass Player Magazine for their mention of this web site. Welcome fellow readers and electric bassists!! Grab up an upright bass and come over to the dark side!! |

FREE Double Bass Screen Saver: The Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 Double Bass Screen Saver I created is available for download. ZDNet Downloads rated it FIVE STARS and there has been well over 35,000 downloads over the past several years!! It is available free by clicking on this link. The highly-configurable screen saver includes twenty-five photos of sixteenth century and modern instruments, vintage advertisements and magazine covers, new basses being carved, and more, optionally accompanied by five different Simandl etudes. Please note (Jan 2007) that it usually works in XP, though I have had reports of failure in some XP installations. To my knowledge it has not been tested in Vista -- I suspect this could be the end of the road for this screen saver unless I can find a reasonably priced engine to recompile a more contemporary version. Bob Gollihur's Double Bass Screen Saver is FREE for your enjoyment. Enjoy!
This site has been available at both http://www.urbbob.com as well as the original site at http://www.gollihur.com/kkbass. Effective October 1, 2007 we have consolidated our presence to GollihurMusic.com where the links are now displayed.
The growing Double Bass Luthier Directory was moved from the bottom of this page to its own, separate page, to lessen the load time of this page. This list is a great resource not only for repairs, but new and used instruments. Please read about the project and contribute information about your favorite luthier so others can find him or her! Enjoy! - Bob

Please note that all the Gollihur Music pages have been moved from urbbob.com and gollihur.com to GollihurMusic.com as we migrate to that new site. Visitors to those former URLs will automatically be forwarded to the new, permanent home, at www.gollihurmusic.com/basslink.cfm. We are in the midst of reauthenticating, updating, and entering all this data into a new system that will be far easier for me to monitor and update, so it can be done daily. thanks, Bob
