I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting gear for upright bassists. I've long had Genz-Benz on my radar, and lately they have been getting a lot of buzz for some of their newer products. After checking the Shuttle combos and the new Streamliner heads out, we decided we just had to have them! So I'm proud to say that we are now a Genz-Benz bass amp dealer.
These excellent speaker cabinets are designed to complement the Shuttle heads and combos; they're essentially the same units that form the speaker part of the combo - without the head or Shuttle mounting hardware. They make an excellent extension cabinet for your Shuttle Combo, and can also be used with a variety of other amps, including the other Genz-Benz amps and some of our other choices, from EA and Acoustic Image.
The Shuttle 1x10 speakers, like the combos, are perfect for the smaller gigs; café performances, jazz combo gigs or for studio or practice sessions. The 10" has more guts than you'd expect, and can generally provide enough volume for small to mid-size stages, and perhaps a drummer who "knows where his volume control is." But as a second speaker added to one of the combos, this perfectly matched extension cabinet would provide considerably more sound for larger or louder venues.
The new 2nd Generation of the Shuttle 12 extension speaker is here - called the "STL-2-12T," it features the addition of a new proprietary cast frame Neodymium loudspeaker. This speaker has better efficiency than the old model, and offers increased output and "thickness" - and can cut through the mix with authority and clarity. The crossover point for the tweeter has also been adjusted for added smoothness on the top end.
