CLARUS 1 and CLARUS 2 Series 4
The Acoustic Image Clarus integrated amplifiers are designed to accurately reproduce the sound of all acoustic and electric instruments using a compact and highly portable electronic system. This powerful and amazingly light amplifier -- available in one-channel and two-channel versions -- can deliver up to 650 watts of clean, full-spectrum output into speaker loads as low as 2 ohms. It also has built-in effects like reverb, delay, chorus and flange.
This amp has a distinct, warm sound, unlike other solid state amps; it's more like a tube amp. However, the Clarus is not "voiced" like many electronic instrument amps. Its frequency response is flat. So what you will hear is the sound of your instrument, uncolored (provided, of course, you use a high quality speaker system.) The tonal shaping characteristic of the three band EQ preamp is able to help you overcome room acoustics, or to subtly shape the sound of the instrument being amplified. The Clarus was not designed to play at tonal extremes or with a distorted output.
NEW with Series 4 Models:
Power: All Clarus amplifiers use the same power amplifier, which provides 650w at 4 ohms.
Effects: All Clarus amplifiers now feature the built-in effects.
Sound: They also, thanks to the new power amp design, have "dramatically improved fidelity," with lower distortion and even lower noise - and the Series III models were already highly regarded for their low signal-to-noise ratio!
Other Features: Look for the icon in the bullet list, below! Also, the docking system (aka "Cabrio") used to dock the heads into the combos and compatible EX cabinets is cross-compatible - meaning that Series III heads will fit into Series 4 combos -- and Series 4 heads, likewise, fit into Series III combos.
Despite its reasonable cost, the Clarus doesn’t skimp on features. A sophisticated preamp section provides three-band equalization, a selectable notch or high pass filter, effects looping and a pre- or post-eq balanced direct out. A cutting edge power amp section drives loads as low as 2 ohms. Together, these features represent an unparalled combination of finesse, brawn and natural sound in an absurdly light book-sized package.
The Clarus is an amplifier for the working musician looking for exceptionally clean, natural sound, with wide frequency response and low noise. Carried in one hand, or in the supplied gig bag, it provides the ultimate in sound reproduction and portability.
Other features of the Clarus include a parallel effects loop with a return level control, a low cut filter and phase reverse for feedback or “boominess” elimination and a balanced direct out with ground lift and pre/post switch, to allow connection to a mixing board for PA augmentation or recording. A switch for dual voltage operation (115/230V, 50/60 Hz), a detachable power cord and a padded gig bag with shoulder strap make the unit convenient for the traveling musician.

Important note concerning orders for Japan:
Acoustic Image units are equipped with switchable power supplies for 120 and 240 volts. The units we sell are not configured for the 100v standard in Japan. If you are interested in using an Acoustic Image amplifier in Japan, units specially designed for that voltage standard are available from Acoustic Image dealers in Japan. |
