Ehrlund created this nifty little box to be used with their EAP (Ehrlund Acoustic Pickup), and Ehrlund pretty strongly recommends that you use his preamp with the EAP for the best possible results, particularly if you play arco. However, it's a very straightforward, high-quality unit that can also be used with (far more common) high-impedance piezo pickups, so we also sell it separately.

The preamp features simple adjustments: a Volume Control, a "High/Low" Level Switch (Ehrlund recommends "low" when used with the EAP on an upright bass), and a Phase Switch for helping to reduce feedback (or to match a second pickup/microphone, if applicable). Perhaps most importantly, it properly buffers the signal for whatever you're plugging into. We usually sell the EAP packaged with the Ehrlund preamp because most customers will get the best results that way. However, if you're looking for a tiny, lightweight and simple preamplifier that will buffer the signal - but not color the tone with extra, unneeded EQ or other settings - this may just be the ticket.
