Violin and Viola Pickups

The Realist^TM has rapidly become a popular choice of bass pickup, and we also carry several versions specially made for Violin and Viola.

Violin/Viola:This version of the Realist system has been created specifically to provide high-quality replication of the high-frequency sounds that violin and viola produce. It also offers easy on-off installation, often a requirement for players who need a pickup for certain gigs, but also sometimes play their instrument in unamplified situations where a pickup would not be desirable.

The transducer is very thin, just .025 inches (twenty-five thousandths of an inch!) that is easily placed between your bridge's legs and the top of your violin-- simply loosen your strings enough to slide it into place! The position results in the accurate sound of your instrument, with a nice blend of string and body, without the harshness or brittle sounds that some pickups produce. That's my violin in the photo, which I've had since 1959 -- it's a Stradavarious!

The pickup comes complete with a sturdy carpenter jack that gently but firmly mounts on your instrument, and a special hook tool is included for tucking any the excess pickup cable into the f-hole if necessary. There are two versions of the Violin Realist; the pickup is identical, but the carpenter jack and accessories are different.

Realist VIOLIN Pickup w/3.5mm jack and cable: and Realist VIOLA Pickup w/3.5mm jack and cable: the smaller 3.5mm jack used with this version is typically preferred for its lower profile. A high quality D'Addario Planet Waves cable with a mini plug on the instrument end and a standard 1/4" phone plug on the other is included for interfacing with a standard amplifier or mixer.
Realist VIOLIN Pickup w/ 1/4 inch output (no cable incl.): this Violin Realist has the 1/4" carpenter jack. It is an alternative version that can be used by players using a compact wireless unit with an integrated 1/4" jack, or for those who prefer the more common connector.
