Flat wound NS Double Bass strings, specially made for NS Design by D’Addario, are available separately. The instrument comes equipped with these special strings sized to fit the instrument's overall shorter string length.

These Flatwound Lights, standard on most models, have a full, sustained tone and responsive, easy to play string tension. They are a solid steel core string, with windings of nickel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

They have an open, lively tone with a higher level of sustain than many acoustic strings, bright harmonics, and a strong fundamental. They particularly suit the player who prefers their EUB to be a "hybrid" instrument, falling sonically between a true upright bass and an electric bass.

These strings DO NOT fit the WAV4 bass, as the afterlength (the distance from the bridge to the tailpiece or other structure where the string is secured to the bass) is of a different length than the original WAV4 strings.

Also note that the NS Design CR and WAV basses are designed to accommodate full (3/4) size upright bass strings, using the wrap-around bottom surface and keyhole string anchor slots on the back of the instrument - so if these stock strings aren't your cup of tea, you're not married to them!
