Labella Black Nylon Tape Wound Upright Bass StringsLabella Black Nylon Tape Wound
These strings are a favorite of jazz bassist Ron Carter, and are pretty popular for that and other reasons. They are metal rope core strings, surrounded by a black nylon wrap, for a smooth feel. They were originally designed to emulate gut, but they have a bit more of the feel of steel strings. The bottom end is good, but I haven't played a set in a long while, so I can't personally provide anything more in-depth. Labella does not list gauges, but I have taken the time to measure all the strings using a digital caliper and present the following unofficial approximate measurements for your reference: G=.061, D=.077, A=.100, E=.134
