UPDATE: October 17th — I have had
prototypes of the new NL210 cab on and off, and now have the final
prototype, and it is very impressive -- so impressive that I have
ordered a special pair for my personal gigging. Street price is
$999, the weight was gone down 3lbs, and it has newly (by EA)
designed kevlar woofers and a different tweeter than the original
NL210. Internal bracing has been beefed up and upgraded dampening
materials help the woofers handle the lows even better. That's what
I noticed right away when playing my five string (low B) electric
basses, the bottom seemed firmer and richer. I can't hear the
crossover, the transisition is very smooth, and the highs are very
clean, not harsh in the least. I gig with an electric blues band and
believe that I'll be able to get by with just one NL210 instead of
taking my old (and heavy!) pair of EA VL208 cabs. Final specs are
below, it is more efficient and can shout a little louder, but
remains very sweet and accurate at lower volumes.
Specifications of the 2011 NL-210:
- Size: 22.5"H x 17"W x 15"D
- Weight: 34 lbs (down by 3lb)
- Response: 45Hz to 15KHz (up by 1khZ)
- Impedance: 8 ohm
- Power Handling: 500 Watts
- Sensitivity: 103dB 1" @1m (up 3db)
- Sound Pressure Level: 130dB @ 1M (up 3db)
- Woofers: two 10" Kevlar Neodymium, proprietary to Euphonic
Audio
- Tweeter with level control: 1" compression driver
- Crossover: damped 4th ordered@3.0KHz
- Connection: two Speakon jacks
You may have played 2x10 speaker cabinets that really only pretend
to handle a low B; I know, I owned one in my past. The low note
response of the EA is meaty, accurate, not blurred. You will hear
that low B in all its glory, and if you've only ever played through
2x10 cabs that fake it, a smile of satisfaction will spread across
your face when you first hear it. We don't need no stinking
fifteens!
More Volume, Massive Tone (your
bass, not a bass), Less
Weight!
NL-210 2-way cabinet

Here is what some of our customers think about this product:

Hi Bob,
Just wanted to let you know that the EA rig arrived on Monday, just like you said it would. I took it out to band practice last night and it kicked some serious bass butt! The only downside, if you want to call it that, is that the tonal quality and accuracy is challenging me to play better. With my old Peavey amp, any old noise I made on the bass came out as an ill defined thump. Now the amp is replicating what I'm playing- good tone, clinkers and all. I actually had the experience in my living room of not thinking it was working because I only heard the same sound, a bit louder. When I cranked it, I heard the same sound, only LOUDER!
Needless to say I'm thrilled and in one day I lost forty pounds of ugly amp! (the difference in weight between the Peavey and the EA) Of course, it fits in the car better, and for short trips from the car to the house, I can pick up the bass with one hand and the amp in the other- of course I AM a manly man!
About EA- I had a couple of questions about setting up the amp controls and emailed EA- even though it was like 8:30 or so, I got a reply from Larry in a half an hour- I fully expected that reply to come sometime during the next business day.
So, let's see- I bought a K&K bass max, a bridge and this amp from you, and I've been thrilled with each purchase.
Thanks, Bob, for your unswerving support of the low down community.
—John
