K&K Sound was founded in 1983 by professional musician Dieter Kaudel and his wife Karla; they moved from Europe to the coast of Oregon in 1995. They have a wide range of pickups for specific and odd musical instruments, such as violin, banjo, guitar, piano, harmonica, drums, piano, and harp, as well as drum sensors, microphones, piezo triggers, and even Vibraphone/Marimba amplification and MIDI equipment. For instance, the "Big Twin" is a unit with two wide-range transducers that is ideal for many larger-bodied instruments, including acoustic bass guitar; the "Double Big Twin" is two, combined -- that's where the name came from. They provide transducers to some instrument manufacturers as an OEM supplier, as well as sell their products through retailers like Gollihur Music.
